Privacy PolicyCostClocker browser extension

CostClocker ("the Extension") is developed and maintained by tility labs ("we", "our", "us"). Our goal is simple: help users understand the true cost of any purchase by converting currency prices they see online into the hours, minutes, or days of work it would take them to earn the same amount based on their salary. We take your privacy seriously and keep data collection to an absolute minimum.

1. Information we collect

• Page‑scan processing (local only). To locate currency prices, the Extension's content script briefly reads visible text on each webpage. This processing happens entirely in your browser; the data is not stored or transmitted.
• No personal data. The Extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, email addresses, account details, or browsing history.
• Local settings. User preferences—including salary, preferred currency, work‑hours per day, and display options—are saved locally using the Chrome storage API and never leave your device.
• No external look‑ups. All calculations are performed locally in your browser; the Extension does not request exchange‑rate or salary data from any external servers.
• Error logs. Non‑identifying runtime errors (e.g., scripting issues) may be logged to the browser console for debugging. These logs are not transmitted to tility labs.

2. How we use information

The limited information described above is used solely to:

• Convert prices on the page you are viewing into time equivalents.
• Remember your extension settings between browser sessions.

We do not sell, rent, or share data with third parties.

3. Third‑party services

The Extension does not connect to any third‑party services.

4. Permissions explained

Permission	Purpose
Content script (<all_urls>)	Enables CostClocker to scan every page you visit for currency amounts and annotate them locally with time equivalents. No page content is transmitted off your device.
activeTab	Allows CostClocker to access the currently active tab so it can refresh conversions instantly when you change settings in the popup. Data is processed entirely in your browser.
storage	Saves your extension options and salary locally.

5. Security

The Extension makes no outbound network requests except those required by Chrome itself. Because we collect no personal data and perform all processing locally, your privacy risk surface is minimal. We routinely review and update the code to address potential vulnerabilities.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Extension evolves. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Significant changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
